About Harjeet Virdee

My career started in the airline industry where for over twenty years I worked with two major international airlines—British Airways in London and later with Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong. I managed teams in several commercial and analysis roles culminating in the latter years in driving business transformation with online solutions throughout the airline. It was a great time to reinvent the way business was done in an era of emerging new technologies. It also developed in me an ability to look at things differently and create new paradigms of possibility, something that would hold me in good stead for my future career..     

Midway through my career I embarked on a personal journey of self-discovery and personal growth.I became fascinated with what it meant to be a thriving, fulfilled human being. Fortunate to have the privilege of accessible travel, I ventured worldwide to experience many different modalities of self-growth including: deep self-enquiry, meditation, mindfulness, positive psychology, coaching, shamanic retreats, spiritual quests and much more. I was passionate about exploring the far reaches of human beingness.  

Over time my personal evolvement significantly shaped my management approach especially in the relationships with the people I led. Departing from the conventional management style reflected in the company culture, I became genuinely committed to their wellbeing and development and often took a back seat to let them be seen and shine. Then an extraordinary thing happened; they flourished beyond anything I expected. Performance excelled, results often exceeded expectations – and people loved their work! This was consistent throughout the years no matter who joined my team and how much or little expertise they had. And I gained a reputation for leading high performing teams and delivering outcomes that excelled.  

Throughout my career, the concept of emotional fulfilment at work was absent, and the idea of loving work remained elusive within the corporate landscape. How people could reach unforeseen potentials that exceeded expectations was not an aspiration in working culture. Recognising what a significant missing piece this was, I knew I had to share this incredible experience. The vision eventually led to the establishment of Beyond Bounds, dedicated to personal and professional growth, culminating in the publication of my book, "Flourish: Unleash Potential, Inspire Excellence," in January 2024.

Having travelled the globe for over two decades and calling Hong Kong home for fifteen years, I now reside in London, UK.
